In the realm of industrial production applications, the storage and utilization of redispersible latex powder involve various critical considerations. We would therefore like to share the following information regarding these aspects:
Redispersible latex powder facilitates the formation of polymer films within the pore cavities and on the surface of mortar. Once formed, this polymer film does not readily redisperse upon contact with water; this mechanism prevents moisture intrusion and significantly enhances the material’s impermeability. Specialized redispersible latex powders endowed with hydrophobic properties exhibit even superior water-repellent efficacy. Currently, the market features an increasing number of latex powder manufacturers; in addition to imported international brands, numerous domestic manufacturers are now actively engaged in production, and even foreign firms have established and commissioned manufacturing facilities within the country.
The product must be stored in a cool, dry environment. The recommended shelf life is 12 months; however, during the summer season, it is advisable to utilize the product as promptly as possible. Storage under conditions of high temperature and humidity significantly increases the likelihood of product caking. Once a bag has been opened, it is recommended to consume the entire contents in a single use; otherwise, the bag opening must be securely sealed to prevent the absorption of moisture from the ambient air. Each particle of redispersible latex powder is encapsulated within a layer of hydrophilic material; for the vast majority of redispersible latex powders, the protective colloid serving this function is polyvinyl alcohol.
